PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound type data recorder capable of dividing into two or more contents without temporarily stopping dubbing even between a tape medium and disk media. SOLUTION: The compound type data recorder is provided with the tape medium (video tape 20b) capable of recording one or more contents and the disk media (HD5b, DVD16b). Then, when transferring (dubbing) one content stored in one of the tape medium and the disk media to the other medium, processing (another title creation/VISS writing) for dividing one content into two or more contents in the other medium is performed (step S26) based on a predetermine instruction, for example, dubbing keystrokes (step S24).
