PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device for a vehicle prevented in the display of an unnecessary operation guide for a steering switch. SOLUTION: The display device for a vehicle is mounted to the vehicle to display the operation guide for the steering switch. The display device comprises: a contact detection means for detecting the contact of an object with the steering switch; a gripping position detection means for detecting whether or not a vehicle driver is gripping a steering wheel in a predetermined gripping position; and a display means for displaying the operation guide on a display (for example, a head-up display) in front of the driver, when the contact detection means detects the contact of an object with the steering switch and the gripping position detection means detects that the driver is gripping the steering wheel in the predetermined gripping position.
