The opening and closing system especially for furniture components, has at least one electrical sensor (18) acting on an electromechanical drive unit (22a). An actuator (13,14,16) with a spring gives movement (31) to at least one section of the furniture i.e. a sliding drawer (1) in relation to another section i.e. the furniture body (2). A lock (12) to secure the drawer releases the drive for the compressed spring to move the drawer out by reassertion. The lock is activated again by the actuator or mechanically. The sensor is a piezo unit and/or a capacitative and/or inductive and/or optical and/or acoustic and/or an infra red sensor.
