METHODS FOR GENOTYPING HCV

The present invention relates to primer specific amplification methods for differentiating Hepatitis C virus (HCV) type 2 and 3 genotypes from HCV type 1 and 4-6 genotypes. The invention finds application in determining prognosis, and in the selection of treatment regimes, for patients infected with HCV. Kits for the detection of each of type 2, type 3 and type 4 HCV are also disclosed.
