There is provided an image forming method for forming a full color image capable of expressing black in addition to the colors expressed by the diffracted light. A plurality of diffraction gratings R, G, B in which the colors of diffracted light observed in a particular direction are different from one another are overlaid on a transfer sheet (20). A plurality of diffraction gratings R, G, B are respectively transferred from the transfer sheet (20) to a substrate (30) and a black ink layer (34) made of black ink is formed on the substrate (30). Thus, it is possible to form a color image on the substrate (30). The color image expresses colors to be expressed by the respective pixels by combinations of luminance of colors corresponding to the respective diffraction gratings R, G, B and the black ink (34). |
