A fluid ejection assembly includes a first layer (50/150/250), and a second layer (30/40) positioned on a side of the first layer. The second layer has a side (32/42) adjacent the side of the first layer and includes a drop ejecting element (70) formed on the side and a fluid pathway (80/180) communicated with the drop ejecting element. The first layer and the fluid pathway of the second layer form a nozzle (130), and the nozzle has a cross-shaped cross-section.
