Provided is an optical borate lanthanide glass not containing gadolinium and fluor, which has a low strain temperature and a preferred optical property(nd/vd), and which is used for mapping, projection, communication, optical communication, mobile drive, and/or laser technology. The optical glass not containing lead and arsenic, has refractive index of 1.75<=nd<=1.83, Abbe's number of 34<=vd<=44. La2O3+Ta2O3+Nb2O3+Y2O3+ZrO2 is 50 wt% based on oxide. The optical glass comprises at least one of 0-1 wt% of Sb2O3, and/or 0-1 wt% of SnO, and/or 0-1 wt% of SO42- and/or 0-1 wt% of F, as a purifying agent. The optical glass is used as an optical element. The optical element is prepared by closely pressing the glass.
