<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus in which a state that toner is accumulated on a conductive roller and the conductive roller is soiled by the toner is accurately detected, and the conductive roller is refreshed. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes; the first conductive roller which rotates in press contact with an intermediate transfer belt; the second conductive roller which rotates in press contact with the intermediate transfer belt in a position different from the position where the first conductive roller contacts with the intermediate transfer belt; a conductive backup roller which supports the intermediate transfer belt from the rear side in the positions where both of the first conductive roller and the second conductive roller are brought in press contact with the intermediate transfer belt, a voltage applying means which applies a voltage to the first conductive roller; a first measuring means which measures a current flowing from the voltage applying means to the first conductive roller; a second measuring means which measures the potential of the electrically floated backup roller; and a control means which controls so as to perform a refreshing operation of discharging the residual toner from the first conductive roller and the second conductive roller based on the measurement results by the first measuring means and the second measuring means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
