PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an art notifying a data size after data compression previously estimated before data compression especially in the art of data-compressing medical images prepared by medical diagnostic equipment.

SOLUTION: This medical image management and support device for data-compressing the medical images using a codec calculates an estimated data size after the data compression of the medical images to be data-compressed based on information of characteristics possessed by the medical images to be data-compressed and affecting the data compression, and information of the codec type to be used for the data compression of the medical images.
