<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting device of a high output and a long lifetime. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitting device has a light emitting element, a light guide member 20 comprising an entry end for entering and an exit end for exiting light from the light emitting element and flexibly extended, and a translucent member 40 which transmits light emitted from the light guide member. The light emitting device also has a coating member 30 which coats a side face on the side of the exit end of the light guide member, uses at least a part of the entry end of the light guide member as a bottom and forms the sidewall of a recess, and the translucent member exists in the recess. Thus, as heat caused by light emitted from the light guide member can be escaped to not only the translucent member but also the coating member, a deterioration and discoloring can be vastly reduced due to heat of the translucent member. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
