CONTROL DEVICE FOR AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an automatic transmission, securing travelling performance to some extent even in the condition that it cannot command the shifting operation of an operator while properly protecting the automatic transmission.

SOLUTION: The control device comprises: an operation lever 1 for setting the shift range of the automatic transmission; an inhibitor switch 2 for outputting a range signal as a control signal corresponding to the shift range; a vehicle speed sensor 3 for detecting the travelling speed of a vehicle; and an engine control means 10 consisting of a fail determining means 11 for determining the fail condition of the inhibitor switch 2 in accordance with the control signal, and an engine torque inhibiting means 12 for inhibiting the output torque of an engine in the fail condition depending on the travelling speed of the vehicle.
