<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture, at low cost, a connecting rod having a positioning groove with the positioning function of a bearing metal. <P>SOLUTION: A split type connecting rod 1 divided into two parts by breakage comprises projected parts 51 and 52 corresponding to locking grooves 5a and 5b on its outer peripheral surface before its large end part 1a is broken. A roughly cylindrical mold 50 formed of a pair of split molds 50a and 50b in which tapered surfaces 56 and 56 opening toward its one end side end face by the breakage of a part of its mating surfaces 55 and 55 are formed is inserted into a bearing hole, and a tapered wedge 70 is slidably moved along the tapered surfaces 56 and 56. Accordingly, the pair of split molds 50a and 50b are moved in the radial direction of the bearing hole 1d while the mating surfaces 55 and 55 are separated from each other to press the inner peripheral surface of the bearing hole 1d by the projected parts 51 and 52 to form locking grooves 5a and 5b for fixing a pair of bearing metal half bodies 10a and 10b of circular arc shape in cross section in the inner peripheral surface of the bearing hole 1d. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
