PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technology of full-text retrieval by which capacity of data to be stored is not increased as much as possible and the full-text retrieval is performed at high speed in a full-text retrieval processing system for data which requires a large amount and long term storage. SOLUTION: No index is created when storing the data. Narrow down conditions for narrowing down volumes are inputted to a volume group of a low-speed device which stores data to be retrieved, volumes to be retrieved are narrowed down, index data is created by reading pieces of data on them and the index data is held in a high-speed storage device. A retrieval keyword of the full-text retrieval is inputted and the full-text retrieval of the retrieval keyword is executed using the created index data. Management information on the data to be retrieved held in the volume group of the low-speed device is stored in a high-speed device and processing for narrowing down the volumes to be retrieved based on the narrow down conditions is performed by referring to the management information.
