PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a beam shaping element that has highly accurate eccentricity and is free from adverse effects on the optical characteristics of the element even in the case where the edges of the element may be chipped or cracked during the production of the element, and to provide a manufacturing method for the element. SOLUTION: The beam shaping element has cylindrical faces on both its sides or has a cylindrical face on its one side and an anamorphic face on its other side. In the beam shaping element, at least one side face in a child direction is a formation transfer face. In addition, a flat face part or/and curved face part are formed outside the direction of the child line of the cylindrical face and/or outside the direction of a mother line of it.
