摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a misfire detection device for an internal combustion engine capable of reducing the influence of a rotation variation by a flywheel damper, and reliably detecting the misfire. SOLUTION: The internal combustion engine is provided with the flywheel damper. An operation range in which the misfire detection is effected by the flywheel damper is predetermined, and judged whether the operation condition of an engine (internal combustion engine) is within the operation ranges (A range, C range) affected by the flywheel damper (step ST3). When judged within the operation range affected by the flywheel damper, a cylinder identifying process for identifying the misfire cylinder, for example, is suspended (step ST4). By this process, the miss detection resulting from the variance of the rotation deviation behavior by the flywheel damper can be eliminated to improve the misfire detection performance.
