A bearing failure indicator comprises a stationary surface and a rotatable surface adjacent the bearing which contact each other upon failure of the bearing, and a temperature sensing device which senses the consequent rise in temperature of the stationary surface. As described, failure of a main ball-bearing of an aircraft generator causes the rotor shaft 11 to be journalled in a friction bearing 24. The consequent rise in temperature in the stator 22 melts wax 34 and solder 35 to connect conductor 30 to the stator 22, thus completing a circuit to indicator 37. |
