The invention concerns a method for fast reselection of the appropriate radio access technology for transmission of data packets in a communication network deploying radio access technologies whereby a multi-radio Radio Link Control (RLC) sublayer (MR-RLC) and a multi-radio Medium Access Control (MAC) sublayer (MR-MAC), both common to at least two radio access technologies, are used for said transmission, that a segmentation common to said at least two radio access technologies of data packets on the multi-radio RLC sublayer (MR-RLC) is used, and that said reselection is performed on the multi-radio MAC sublayer (MR-MAC), an access controller, a program module and a communication network therefor.
