<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To hinder variations in the rotating speed of a rotator, which may cause faults such as banding and color shift, by holding a rotation transmission element, such as a gear, in a constant position. <P>SOLUTION: The drive device includes: a motor 38 as a drive source that drives a photoreceptor drum 17d in an image recorder; a connection shaft 43 having a joint 54 in which a joint member 53 disposed on a shaft 42 on the photoreceptor drum side detachably fits in the axial direction; and the gear 35d coaxially disposed on a connection shaft so as to transmit the drive force of the motor to the connection shaft. This gear has a bearing boss 71 that fits in a support shaft 73 fixed to a frame member 72. The connection shaft has a hollow cylindrical shape and is made of a synthetic resin material that has a required spring stiffness.
