<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for heat treatment capable of achieving a uniform heat distribution even for any material to be heated when hard metals, cermets or ceramics are heat-treated. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of cassettes 10 each filled with a material 14 to be treated are disposed in a microwave sintering oven. Each cassette has a wall which has a cutout part of an opening necessary for microwave radiation and is impermeable to microwaves. The cassette has a very small length, width or height in a non-charged state in order to form a continuous energy distribution at a used microwave frequency and has a length, width or height allowing a heating object to be uniformly heated when charged with the material; the length, height or width of the wall does not exceed 6 wavelengths of a used microwave beam by adjustment.
