摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a traveling support device equipped with a plurality of object detecting means for detecting an object based on different detection principles for operating traveling support control of a vehicle based on those detection results, wherein it is possible to prevent any non-operation or erroneous operation under traveling support control even when the object cannot be detected by any object detection means, and to attain proper traveling support control corresponding to the decision result. <P>SOLUTION: An ACC system 1 is provided with a millimeter wave radar 10, a stereoscopic camera 11 and a preceding vehicle recognition ECU 20 for calculating the object parameter of a preceding vehicle by fusing such parameters as an inter-vehicle distance and relative speed read from the millimeter wave radar 10 and a stereoscopic camera 11, and for acquiring object classification information showing the detection status, and a traveling control ECU 30 for controlling a brake actuator 40 or an electronic control system throttle valve 41 or the like based on the object parameter and the object classification information. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p>
