PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the volume protection of an external storage system in an information processing system equipped with a storage system which provides a storage area of an external storage system connected to it to a host computer as its own storage area. SOLUTION: Functions concerning the volume protection of the storage system and the external storage system are consolidated to a control server, and a method of protection which can be executed by the control server is created and presented to a user.
