PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device capable of obtaining an excellent image by preventing pitch noise from being generated. SOLUTION: The developing device 8 has a developer carrier 12 which carries one-component developer on the surface of the developer carrier 12 and a freely rotatable developer supplying member 14 which is arranged in contact with the developer carrier 12 and supplies the one-component developer to the developer carrier 12, and applies a bias voltage to the developer carrier 12, to develop an electrostatic latent image formed on an image carrier 5. Further, the developing device 8 is configured so that the developer supplying member 14 is rotated in accordance with the rotation of the developer carrier 12, when it is rotated, by the friction force between the developer supplying member 14 and the developer carrier 12.
