PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change a television broadcast program to/from a recorded program in simple operation and reproduce the program. SOLUTION: The apparatus has a reception means for receiving television broadcast; a recording and reproducing means for recording image data of a broadcast program received by the reception means into a recording medium, and reproducing the image data from the recording medium; an output means for outputting the image data of the broadcast program received by the reception means or image data reproduced from the recording medium, on a display device; an instruction means for instructing a broadcast channel; and a control means for controlling the recording and reproducing means and the output means so as to reproduce the image data from the recording medium and output the data into the display device in response to instruction of a certain channel by the instruction means.
