PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a log management method and device capable of easily and properly extracting logs relevant to a specific user or the act of the specific user from the logs outputted by components (including software and hardware) of many computers. SOLUTION: The log management device for retrieving and managing the logs outputted from one or more computers used by a user as the computer(s) targeted for management comprises a means for extracting log element information usable for specifying the user from the logs outputted by the components of the computer(s) targeted for management, and a means for extracting the relevant logs from the logs outputted by other components by use of the extracted log element information.
