PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wireless handset for selectively making a communication with a base station by using at least using at least one of first and second wireless modes. SOLUTION: The wireless base station of a phone system is provided with a wireless handset module that transmits and receives a first wireless signal in the first wireless mode and transmits and receives a second wireless signal in the second wireless mode having a greater range and higher operating power than the first wireless mode. a control module that communicates with the wireless handset module and switches the base station between the first wireless mode and the second wireless mode.
