PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of reading the temperature of sealing steam in a steam turbine 46 using steam for sealing turbine shaft ends 54, 56. SOLUTION: The method comprises a step (a) of supplying sealing pressure steam via a supply pipe 58 to a steam seal header 56 which distributes sealing steam to the shaft ends, a step (b) of measuring the temperature of the sealing pressure steam at a position directly adjacent to at least one shaft end 52 on the downstream side of the supply pipe 58, and a step (c) of using a temperature measured value form the step (b) for guaranteeing that the sealing pressure steam is within a preset allowable range.
