PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle for a coating paste which gives a coating paste which is excellent in adhesiveness, capable of preventing delamination and generates least voids, and a coating paste. SOLUTION: The vehicle for the coating paste for producing the coating paste by mixing an inorganic powder includes a modified polyvinyl acetal resin and a monofunctional organic solvent wherein the temperature that a residual solvent weight becomes less than 10% of the initial solvent weight is 121-185°C when the temperature of the vehicle is raised from 25°C at a rate of 10°C/min under 1 atm and an air flow of 100 mL/min.
