Biological information processing unit and method which permit low-cost and accurate measurement of the hybridization of a DNA chip without complicating their constitutions, a program and a recording medium. A debris (463) having an area inside a spot boundary (461) is used as an in-spot area (522), and an area excluding the debris (463) inside the spot boundary (461) is used as an in-spot area (521). A flag f is set to each in-spot area (521, 522) according to reliability. Preferably a low-reliability in-spot area need not be used. This invention is applicable to a device for measuring the fluorescence intensity of a DNA chip.
