The arrangement has two horizontal measuring ranges (4, 6, 7, 9) arranged, on each longitudinal side of a motor vehicle, adjacent to one another. Transmitting and receiving units for ultrasonic or electromagnetic radiations are provided on associated measuring ranges. The measuring ranges stay at an angle to the transverse axis of the vehicle, where the angle is greater than zero and less than ninety degree. An independent claim is also included for a method of measuring the parking spot.
