A pharmaceutical preparation for controlling the condition of type 2 diabete s, the pharmaceutical preparation comprising the combination of mitiglinide or a pharmacologically acceptable salt or hydrate thereof and an .alpha.- glycosidase inhibitor (e.g., voglibose, acarbose); and a therapeutic method using the pharmaceutical preparation. The pharmaceutical preparation shows a n extremely potent effect of decreasing the morning fasting blood glucose leve l, the postprandial blood glucose level and HbAlc in a patient with type 2 diabetes and can ameliorate glucose spike, insulin resistance and lipid metabolism.
