An internal voltage generator is provided to stably supply a high voltage by minimizing the generation of a leakage current. First and second charge pumping units(500,550) generate a higher voltage than an external voltage by positively pumping the external voltage. An output driver(600) outputs a high output voltage in turn according to the output voltages of the first and second charge pumping units. A level sensing unit(100) senses the level of the high voltage. An oscillator(200) generates a period signal in response to a sensing signal of the level sensing unit. A latch unit(300) generates first and second driving signals with opposite phases by receiving the period signal. A first pumping control signal generation unit(400) generates a plurality of pumping control signals controlling the driving of the first charge pumping unit in response to the first driving signal. A second pumping control signal generation unit(450) generates a plurality of pumping control signals controlling the driving of the second charge pumping part in response to the second driving signal.
