<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel polypeptide having a homology with chondromodulin-I, and a gene encoding the polypeptide. <P>SOLUTION: The polypeptide having a specific amino acid sequence, the DNA encoding the polypeptide, and the antibody against the polypeptide are obtained by isolating genes from a human, mouse and rat cDNA libraries.
