摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively avoid a collision by a driver's steering operation. <P>SOLUTION: This steering operation assisting device assisting the steering operation of a vehicle for avoiding an obstacle is equipped with an avoiding operation judging means M4 which judges the driver's avoiding operation for the obstacle, a norm yaw rate calculating means M5 which calculates a norm yaw rate of the vehicle, a target yaw rate calculating means M6 which calculates a target yaw rate of the vehicle, and a steering controlling means M8 which controls the operation of a steering actuator 18 based on the target yaw rate. The target yaw rate calculating means M6 calculates the target yaw rate by compensating the norm yaw rate calculated by the norm yaw rate calculating means M5 in the increasing direction when the avoiding operation judging means M4 judges the driver's avoiding operation for the obstacle. Therefore, the rudder turning angle of wheels is increased by outputting the larger target yaw rate at the time of the avoiding operation for the obstacle, and the contact with the obstacle can surely be avoided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT</p>
