A method for bi-casting a turbine rotor (12) may include applying an oxidation resistant coating (36) to individually cast rotor blades (30), and bi- casting the coated blades (30) into a dual alloy blade ring (10), wherein the oxidation resistant coating (36) prevents formation of an oxide scale on the surface of the rotor blades (30) during bi-casting and allows diffusion bonding of the rotor blades (30) to the blade ring (10). The oxidation resistant coating (36) may comprise a platinum group metal or alloy thereof.
