摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for performing an image processing including successive processing such as a Huffman encoding of a JPEG (joint picture expert group) system at a high speed by using a SIMD (single instruction stream multiple data stream) type arithmetic operation, to speed up the processing by allowing a plurality of element processors to process image signals of image blocks consisting of a prescribed number of pixels in parallel, and also to realize efficient performance of successive processing such as the Huffman encoding by providing a means for synthesizing the result processed by each element processor. <P>SOLUTION: The SIMD type arithmetic operation having N units of processors capable of operating in parallel, is characterized by having a means for allowing a plurality of element processors operating in parallel to encode image signal consisting of a plurality of pixels, and a means for composing a code word obtained by the means to a consecutive bit string are provided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p>
