A variable resistor is provided to increase operation reliability by preventing terminals from being short-circuited by preventing diffusion of coating material between terminals. A variable resistor includes an insulation substrate(7), plural mount holes(7b), plural terminals(10), a support unit(11), and a contact unit. A resistor and a condenser are formed on a planar insulation substrate. The mount holes are formed on one end portion of the insulation substrate. The terminals are fixed on the mount holes and connected to the resistor and the condenser. The terminals are elongated from one side portion of the insulation substrate to the outside. The support unit couples a fixing portion of the terminal to the insulation substrate. The contact unit is contacted with the resistor and the condenser. Insulation frame portions(11b,11c) are elongated between the fixing portions of the terminals, which are fixed on the insulation substrate, in a direction crossing a planar surface of the insulation substrate.
