The invention relates to a dental handpiece (1) comprising mechanical elements, i.e. a tool holder unit for fixing and rotationally driving a dental instrument about a drive axis (6) and a movement transmission unit. The mechanical elements are mounted inside the body (2) with a head (4) and a handle (3). The invention is characterized in that it comprises means for electric connection between the mechanical elements of the handle and the head of the instrument. Said means are made up of an elastic and electrically conducting connecting element.
