Mounting windows

A pre-glazed window unit is mounted in an aperture in a wall W using a window frame and securing means. The frame comprises a base having a pair of arms 17 forming a channel 18 between them. In use the frame is located around the edge of the aperture to be glazed with the arms 17 engaging opposite sides of the wall W adjacent the aperture. The window unit is placed into the frame from a first side of the wall until it abuts the frame and is secured to the frame. Preferably the securing means 21 engages the window unit as the unit is placed into the frame. The securing means 21 may be provided on stop means 19 extending from the frame base in an opposite direction to the arms 17. The securing means 21 may irreversibly engage a co-operating socket 41 in the window unit as the unit is placed in the frame. The frame may be provided in mitred lengths corresponding to sides of the aperture, one of the lengths being split to facilitate fitting of the frame to the aperture.
