A seat/saddle adjusting assembly of an exercise machine comprises a post 10; a top end of the post having a housing 11; an operating lever 20 and cam block 31 both having engaging inclined cam surfaces (21 figure 1); and an adjusting portion having two clamping plates 42 and a stud 41. Rotation of the operating lever 20 about the vertical axis of the stud 41 causes the clamping plates 42 to engage or release. When the clamping plates 42 are engaged the rail 50 of the seat is retained in position and when the plates 42 are released the position of the rail 50 is movable so as to longitudinally adjust the position of the seat.
