The apparatus has a calculating unit to define a window of a preset size based on a current pixel in an input current frame. The calculating unit calculates eigen value and vector to determine the window feature. A weight calculating unit (324) calculates the feature and a filtering weight based on the calculated value and feature, respectively. A low pass filter filters the window based on the calculated vector and weight. An independent claim is also included for a method of removing jagging artifacts from an image.
