<p>A method and an apparatus for controlling a fluorescent lamp based on existence of a people in a room are provided to increase a security level by maintaining a turn-on state of the fluorescent lamp when sensing persons. An apparatus for controlling a fluorescent lamp based on existence of people in a room includes a setting input portion(130), a body detector(110), a brightness detector(120), a lamp driver(160), and a microprocessor(140). Setting information for turning on/off the fluorescent lamp is inputted by using the setting input portion. The body detector detects a person inside a room. The lamp driver supplies power for turning on the fluorescent lamp. When the brightness value from the brightness detector is smaller than a predetermined value, the microprocessor drives the lamp driver, so that the fluorescent lamp is turned on for a predetermined time interval.</p> |
