An apparatus and a method for providing stereophonic sound are provided to reduce the volume of a signal transmitting unit. In an apparatus(100) for providing stereophonic sound, a controlling unit(130) generates a first audio signal transmitted from a sound source by an air conduction method and a second audio signal transmitted by a bone conduction method. A signal converting unit(140) converts the sizes and phases of the first and second audio signals according to a transmitting path of the first and second audio signals. A signal transmitting unit(150) transmits the converted first and second audio signals through the corresponding transmitting path.
