<p>A name service system and method are provided to enable a client computer connected with a private network or client computers using a flexible IP address to be connected by using only the name of the client computers. When a name registration is requested through a communication network(30), a name service server(50) registers a name and network information corresponding to the name, and when a name calling is requested, the name service server(50) transmits the network information corresponding to the registered name. DVRs(Digital Video Recorders)(10-1-10-n) collect information, have each name of the information, request the name registration from the name service server(50), and register the name and the network information to the name service server(50), and when the registered network information is changed, the DVRs(10-1-10-n) transmit the changed network information to the name service server(50). Remote control/management systems(40-1-40-m) request the name calling, use network information upon receiving it corresponding to a name transmitted from the name service server(50), and are connected with a DVR having the corresponding name to receive the collected information.</p> |
