Communication system and method, information processing apparatus and method, and a program for providing a highly precise clock synchronization in a simple manner. A synchronization master apparatus (12) produces a synchronization control frame at a time (t1); waits for a time period (A1); starts to transmit the synchronization control frame at a time (t2) when the value of a clock counter register becomes "0"; and resets the clock counter register at a time (t3) when the transmission of the synchronization control frame is completed. On the other hand, a synchronization slave apparatus (13) starts to receive the synchronization control frame at the same timing as the time (t2), and completes, at the same timing as the time (t3), the reception of the synchronization control frame to resets a clock counter register. The present invention is applicable to an A/V data communication system for transmitting/receiving real-time data such as video data and audio data.
