The present invention provides a gasser solution for sensitising an emulsion to form a gassed emulsion explosive composition having a discontinuous aqueous phase comprising inorganic oxygen releasing salts, a continuous water immiscible organic phase and an emulsifier, the emulsifier comprising a headgroup having a functional moiety which is vulnerable to attack by a nitroso species and wherein the gasser solution comprises a solution of an inorganic nitrite, an ammonium species a nd optionally an accelerator.
