An electrode for a cold cathode fluorescent lamp and a manufacturing method thereof are provided to prevent an electric line portion of the electrode from being broken by sintering the electric line portion with a discharge portion of the electrode. Metal powders are mixed with an additive agent, such that a mixed compound is formed(10). The mixed compound is formed in an electrode die, such that an electrode mold base is formed(20). The electrode mold base is heated up to a sintering temperature, such that an electrode is formed(30). The electrode is compressed(40). The metal powder is made of a metal having a fusing point higher than 2000‹C. The metal powder is one of a group consisting of tungsten, molybdenum, a tungsten alloy and a molybdenum alloy.
