A method for controlling the transmission output of a diversity mobile terminal and the mobile terminal realizing the same are provided to prevent a waste of time and efforts for measuring diversity characteristics according to each temperature and frequency, and compensate for a change in a transmission signal output value due to degradation of each component. A diversity unit(300) splits an RF signal into the first and second transmission paths. The first coupler(420) extracts partial power of a signal that passes through the first transmission path. The first detector(410) outputs a value proportional to strength of the extracted signal. The second coupler(440) extracts partial power of a signal that passes through the second transmission path. The second detector(520) outputs a value proportional to strength of the signal extracted from the second coupler(440). A controller(260) reads the output values from the first and second detectors(410,440), analyzes them, and controls/outputs signals of the first and second transmission paths.
