A fabric hose 10 having fibres 11, 12 woven in opposed helical relationship is placed on a mandrel of uniform cross-section (not shown), thermosetting plastics material in a fluid condition is then applied to the fabric which is drawn into close contact with the mandrel by axial tension, the plastics material then being cured and the mandrel removed. Thermosetting plastic is applied to the fabric which is held in a stretched condition by being painted on the outside, by dipping the mandrel and fabric into the plastics material in a fluid condition or by vacuum impregnation. The finished tube 15 may be increased in thickness by applying a second fabric hose 16 over it when still on the mandrel and impregnating with plastics material and curing as before. The mandrel is preferably made of polyethylene, the material known by the Registered Trade Mark of "Teflon" or a similar material which will not adhere to the thermosetting plastics.
