An apparatus and a method for providing a music file searching function are provided to allow a user to promptly select a desired music file by reproducing a characteristic interval of each music file according to an attribution of the music file using the directivity of a stereophonic sound. An input unit(110) receives an attribute of a music file to be reproduced. A search unit(130) searches a characteristic interval of the music file according to the attribution of the music file. A stereophonic sound generation unit(140) generates a stereophonic sound with respect to the characteristic interval of the music file along an axis on a space corresponding to the attribute of the music file. An output unit(150) outputs the generated stereophonic sound.
