Techniques are provided to compare three-dimensional (3D) images more quickly and accurately. A computer first produces a 3D differential image VB1 by comparing given 3D images B1 and B2, both having been converted into voxel form previously (step S1). The computer then produces a 3D fine differential image VB2 with respect to a surface of the 3D differential image VB1 (step S2), the 3D fine differential image VB2 provides details of the first and second 3D images B1 and B2 at a higher resolution than in the comparison that has been made at step S1. Subsequently, the computer determines a representation scheme for visualizing voxel differences, with reference to the 3D differential image VB1 and 3D fine differential image VB2 (step S3). Lastly, the computer displays voxel comparison results on a display screen or the like by drawing the 3D differential image VB1 and 3D fine differential image VB2 in the determined representation scheme (step S4).

|
